Chapter 8 - Lily’s Legacy

With the Voss family neutralized, peace finally began to settle over the Harmon estate. The story of the billionaire’s hidden niece leaked to the press, but Ethan’s PR team managed it flawlessly. The public fell in love with the story of Rosa, the hardworking mother who survived heartbreak, and Lily, the rightful heir to a dynasty.
On Lily’s fourth birthday, Ethan threw a massive celebration at the mansion. It wasn't a stiff, corporate event like the galas of the past. The grand backyard was transformed into a carnival, complete with a carousel, balloon artists, and dozens of children from the local Greenwich community.
Rosa watched from the patio, a glass of champagne in her hand. She wore a stunning, elegant emerald dress—no aprons, no uniforms. She looked beautiful, happy, and entirely at peace.
Ethan walked up beside her, watching Lily laugh as she chased bubbles across the lawn.
“She has his laugh,” Ethan said softly.
“She does,” Rosa agreed, blinking back tears of joy. “Every single day, she reminds me of him. But now, she doesn’t have to grow up in the shadows. She gets to be who she was born to be.”
“And what about you, Rosa?” Ethan asked, turning to look at her. His gaze was intense, filled with a warmth that had been growing over the past few months. “Are you happy here?”
Rosa looked at him, recognizing the subtle shift in his tone. For months, they had bonded over grief, over justice, and over Lily. But beneath that, a deep, unspoken connection had formed between them. Ethan had become her rock, and she had become the anchor that grounded his lonely world.

“I am happy, Ethan,” Rosa said, her voice dropping to a soft whisper. “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m home.”
Ethan reached out, gently wrapping his hand around hers. “Good. Because I don’t ever want you to leave.”
