Chapter 10 - The Harmon Dynasty

A year after the trial, the Harmon mansion had completely transformed. The cold, sterile museum atmosphere was gone, replaced by the warmth of a true family home. Toys scattered the marble floors, finger-paintings hung on the refrigerator in the grand kitchen, and the sound of laughter echoed through the high hallways.
Julian’s trust fund had been secured for Lily, but she remained blissfully unaware of her immense wealth. To her, she was just a happy four-year-old who loved her mom, her Uncle Ethan, and her new life.
It was a warm evening in June. Rosa and Ethan stood on the terrace, watching the sunset paint the Long Island Sound in shades of pink and gold. Lily was a few feet away, sitting on a blanket, stubbornly dressing her stuffed rabbit, Bun, in a tiny yellow duck sock.
Ethan looked at Rosa, his heart full. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. It wasn't an engagement ring—not yet. It was too soon for that, and they both respected the memory of Julian too much to rush. Inside was a beautiful, custom-made platinum necklace. The pendant was a starburst pattern, inlaid with rare amber gemstones.
“For you,” Ethan said, fastening it around her neck. “A symbol of the truth that brought us together. And the future we’re building.”
Rosa touched the pendant, looking up into Ethan’s eyes—the same eyes as her daughter’s, the same eyes as the man she had loved. But as she looked at Ethan, she realized she was looking at her future.

“We did it, Julian,” Rosa whispered in her heart, looking up at the evening sky. “Our little girl is safe.”
Ethan wrapped his arm around Rosa’s waist, pulling her close as Lily finally succeeded in putting the sock on the rabbit and let out a triumphant squeal. The Harmon empire was worth billions, but as Ethan looked at his family, he knew that the secret hidden in a little girl’s eyes had given him something that money could never buy: a home.
