Chapter 7 - The Shadows of the Voss Family

The news of Natalie Voss’s arrest hit Wall Street like a bomb. The Voss Enterprises stock collapsed overnight, wiping out millions of dollars of her family’s wealth. But the Voss family wasn't going down without a fight.
Later that week, Victor Voss, Natalie’s powerful and ruthless billionaire father, demanded a meeting with Ethan. Ethan refused to see him at his office, instead agreeing to meet him at a neutral, high-security private club in Manhattan.
Rosa begged Ethan not to go. “Men like Victor Voss are dangerous, Ethan. He will do anything to protect his daughter.”
“I’m dangerous too, Rosa,” Ethan replied, his voice chillingly calm as he adjusted his cuffs. “And he touched my family.”
The meeting at the club was tense. Victor Voss was an older man with silver hair and cold, calculating eyes. He didn't look like a grieving father; he looked like a CEO trying to mitigate a bad quarterly report.
“Name your price, Harmon,” Victor said before the waiter could even pour their water. “We know your legal team is pushing the DA for the maximum sentence. My daughter made a mistake, but she doesn’t belong in a maximum-security prison.”
“A mistake?” Ethan leaned back in his chair, his expression utterly detached. “She killed my brother. She spent four years hiding the evidence. Then she targeted me to steal my family’s fortune.”
“She was desperate!” Victor hissed, leaning forward. “Julian broke her heart. He disgraced our family by running off with a nobody. Natalie was protecting our legacy.”
“Your legacy is dead, Victor,” Ethan said softly. “And if you think money can buy her out of this, you’re mistaken. I am personally funding the prosecution. I have hired the best investigators in the country to dig into Voss Enterprises. Do you know what they found?”
Victor’s eyes narrowed, a tremor of fear appearing in his jaw.

“Systemic fraud, embezzlement, and bribery,” Ethan said, tossing a flash drive onto the table. “Natalie isn’t the only one going to prison. By the time I’m done, your entire family will be bankrupt, and you’ll be sharing a cell block with her. Have a nice day, Victor.”
Ethan stood up, leaving the elder Voss frozen in horror, and walked out into the crisp New York air.
