Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

One year later.

The October wind blew across the Boston harbor, but it didn't feel cold anymore. It felt crisp, fresh, and full of life.

The Kavanaugh estate had undergone a massive transformation. The bulletproof glass was still there, but the dark, heavy curtains had been replaced with bright, vibrant fabrics. The gardens were filled with flowers, and a massive, beautiful bird sanctuary had been built in the backyard, designed entirely by Micah.

Today, the estate was hosting a wedding.

A white canopy stretched across the lawn. Renick stood at the altar, wearing a flawless black tuxedo. He looked younger, the deep lines of sorrow on his face completely replaced by a peaceful, radiant smile. Beside him stood Micah, serving proudly as the best man, looking sharp in his own miniature tux.

The music began to play—a beautiful, sweeping orchestral melody.

Brinley walked down the aisle first as the flower girl, throwing rose petals with a huge grin on her face. As she passed Renick, she looked up and said clearly, loudly, and proudly: "You look handsome, Daddy."

The guests, consisting of reformed business associates, staff, and close friends, smiled warmly.

Then came Belle.

She looked breathtaking in a simple, elegant ivory gown. She didn't look like a maid, and she didn't look like a mafia queen. She looked like a woman who had found her home, her purpose, and her true love.

When Renick took her hand at the altar, his fingers were warm and steady.

"You're beautiful," he whispered, his eyes glittering with a few unshed tears.

"You're not so bad yourself, Mr. Kavanaugh," Belle whispered back.

The vows were short, honest, and filled with promises of protection, love, and a future built on peace rather than fear. When the priest finally pronounced them husband and wife, Renick pulled Belle into his arms and kissed her, a cheer erupting from everyone present—most notably from Micah and Brinley, who were holding hands at the front.

At the reception, as the sun began to dip below the Boston skyline, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of pink and gold, the new family of four stood together on the grand balcony—the very same balcony where it had all begun.

A single sparrow flew down, landing gently on Micah’s outstretched finger. Brinley giggled, leaning against Belle’s side, while Renick wrapped his massive arms around all of them.

The poor maid’s son had saved the mafia boss’s daughter from a twenty-three-foot fall. But in the end, they had saved each other from a lifetime of loneliness, turning a house of shadows into a home filled forever with light.
