CHAPTER 7 – THE ENEMY WE NEVER SAW

CHAPTER 7 – THE ENEMY WE NEVER SAW
Every weapon in the medical tent was raised at once.
Shadow Wolf operatives formed a circle around Dominic, Lucas, Sophia, and Elena.
No one moved.
No one breathed.
The radio still hissed with static.
"It came from inside the camp," the operative repeated.
Elena's voice was calm.
"Lock every exit."
Within seconds, armed soldiers sealed the perimeter.
Doctors.
Nurses.
Engineers.
Bodyguards.
Everyone was ordered to stand still.
Dominic looked around.
"There are over a hundred people here."
Elena nodded.
"But only one transmitted the code."
A technician hurried over with a tracking device.
"The signal is still active."
He followed the blinking screen through rows of medical equipment.
Everyone watched.
The device stopped...
In front of the senior surgeon who had removed Elena's bullet.
The doctor slowly raised his hands.
"There has to be some mistake."
The tracker beeped louder.
An operative searched his coat.
Inside one pocket was a tiny encrypted transmitter.
The doctor's face changed instantly.
The frightened physician disappeared.
A cold smile replaced him.
"You found it faster than expected."
Before anyone could react, he bit down on a hidden capsule.
Elena lunged forward.
"Stop him!"
Too late.
The poison worked within seconds.
The man collapsed.
Foam gathered at his lips.
With his final breath, he whispered,
"The Archive... already belongs to Varga."
Then he died.
Silence filled the tent.
Dominic clenched his fists.
"We're always one step behind."
"No," Elena said quietly.
"He wanted us to think that."
She examined the transmitter carefully.
Something was engraved on the back.
A set of coordinates.
Not a message.
An invitation.
"He wants us to come."
Dominic looked at the numbers.
"I'll go."
"You won't go alone."
Lucas suddenly stepped forward.
"Dad."
Everyone turned toward the seven-year-old.
He held out a folded piece of paper.
"I remembered something."
"It fell out of Bunny before."
Dominic unfolded it.
It was a child's drawing.
At first glance it looked meaningless.
A lighthouse.
A lake.
Three birds.
Then Elena's eyes widened.
"This isn't a drawing."
"It's a map."
The silver key.
The picture.
The letter.
Everything fit together.
Dominic finally understood.
His father hadn't hidden the Archive beneath the mansion.
He had hidden clues inside the only thing no assassin would ever search.
A little girl's stuffed rabbit.
Varga had destroyed the wrong building.

For the first time since the attack, Dominic smiled.
"We're finally ahead."
