EPILOGUE: THE LAST MESSAGE

Three months later.
The media storm had finally faded.
The hospital returned to normal.
The black SUVs were gone.
No one ever discovered who had sent them.
No one ever proved whether the mysterious grandmother was telling the truth.
And strangely...
She disappeared the very next day.
Without a trace.
Megan often wondered if she had been real at all.
But life moved forward.
Oliver was healthy.
Happy.
Safe.
That was all that mattered.
Or so she thought.
One quiet evening, after putting Oliver to sleep, Megan sat alone on the porch.
The rain had just begun to fall.
Soft.
Gentle.
Peaceful.
Her phone vibrated.
Unknown Number.
For a moment, her heart stopped.
The same thing had happened before.
Slowly, she answered.
"Hello?"
Silence.
Then a familiar voice.
A voice she hadn't heard in years.
A voice she thought she would never hear again.
"Megan."
The phone nearly slipped from her hand.
Tears filled her eyes instantly.
"Mom?"
Silence.
Then the voice spoke again.
"I don't have much time."
Megan stood up.
"Where are you?"
"Listen carefully."
The connection crackled.
"There is something I never told you about Oliver."
A chill ran through Megan's body.
"What do you mean?"
The voice lowered.
Almost a whisper.
"He's not the only child."
Megan froze.
The rain suddenly felt colder.
"What?"
But the line had already begun breaking apart.
"Megan..."
"Mom!"
"If they find the second baby..."
Static exploded through the call.
Then silence.
Complete silence.
The connection ended.
Megan stared at the dark screen.
Unable to move.
Unable to breathe.
The second baby?
What second baby?
She slowly turned toward Oliver's room.
The nursery window was open.
Just slightly.
A curtain moved in the wind.
And resting on the windowsill...
Was a small silver necklace.
The exact same necklace her mother had worn.
The one that should have been impossible to find.
Megan picked it up with trembling hands.
Attached was a tiny folded note.
Only four words were written inside.
"They know you know."
The porch light flickered.
Then went out.
And somewhere in the darkness beyond the trees...
May you like
Someone was watching.
THE END...?
