CHAPTER 4 — THE BILLIONAIRE'S FATHER

CHAPTER 4 — THE BILLIONAIRE'S FATHER

"You ruined my life."

The words escaped before I realized I'd spoken them.

Harrison Frost didn't deny it.

Instead, he adjusted the cuff of his tailored suit as though we were discussing the weather.

"I protected my family's legacy."

I stared at him in disbelief.

"My children are your grandchildren."

"They are liabilities."

Desmond stepped forward.

"Stop."

His father barely glanced at him.

"You were building the largest merger in company history."

"A surprise pregnancy with a struggling architect would've damaged investor confidence."

Desmond's jaw tightened.

"So you destroyed her instead?"

"I solved a problem."

The calmness in Harrison's voice was more terrifying than shouting.

"You fired me."

"Yes."

"You ruined my credit."

"Yes."

"You followed my babies."

"Correct."

"You tried to take them away."

"I intended to raise them properly."

Every word landed like another knife.

Around us, strangers watched in stunned silence.

Even the marshals seemed disturbed.

Desmond looked at the man he'd admired his entire life.

"I believed Maya left because of me."

Harrison nodded.

"That was the intention."

"You intercepted my messages?"

"Every one."

"I wrote to her."

"They were deleted."

"I transferred money."

"It was redirected."

"I went to her apartment."

"I had already moved her."

Desmond staggered backward.

"No..."

His father continued without emotion.

"I paid your attorney to tell you she wanted nothing more to do with you."

My heartbeat thundered.

"He told me you said having a child would ruin your future," I whispered.

Desmond slowly turned toward me.

"I never said that after you disappeared."

"I spent months searching."

Tears filled his eyes.

"I thought you'd chosen someone else."

I shook my head.

"I thought you abandoned us."

For eighteen months, we had both been living inside the same lie.

One of the marshals stepped forward.

"Mr. Harrison Frost."

"We also have a warrant for you."

Passengers gasped again.

The billionaire patriarch smiled.

"You think you can arrest me?"

The marshal handed him the document.

"Racketeering."

"Corporate fraud."

"Witness intimidation."

"Conspiracy."

"Illegal surveillance."

"And attempted kidnapping of three minors."

For the first time, Harrison's smile faded.

Suddenly, chaos erupted.

A black SUV screeched to a stop outside the terminal's glass entrance.

Four masked men burst through the doors.

"Get the children!"

One of them shouted.

Everything happened at once.

Passengers screamed.

Security drew weapons.

The marshals spun around.

One masked man charged directly toward Oliver.

Another lunged for Emma.

Desmond reacted without hesitation.

He scooped Emma into one arm while shoving me behind him.

"Run!"

A gunshot echoed through the terminal ceiling.

Glass shattered overhead.

People scattered in every direction.

Noah began crying hysterically.

Oliver clung to Desmond's jacket.

The masked men kept coming.

Then Harrison Frost spoke a sentence that made every federal marshal in the building turn toward him.

"Those idiots weren't supposed to arrive until tonight."

Silence.

He had just exposed himself.

May you like

The kidnappers had come for the triplets.

And their own grandfather had accidentally admitted he knew they were coming.
