CHAPTER 4 — THE MAFIA BOSS WHO STOPPED THE DIVORCE

CHAPTER 4 — THE MAFIA BOSS WHO STOPPED THE DIVORCE

Nobody noticed Joon move.

One second he stood beside the conference table.

The next...

His fist crashed into the polished marble.

BOOM!

The impact echoed through the executive floor.

Crystal water glasses jumped.

Pens rolled.

The marble cracked beneath his hand.

Not shattered.

Cracked.

A thin line stretching across the billion-dollar conference table.

Nobody had ever seen Joon lose control.

Not once.

His security team instinctively reached for their radios.

The lawyers froze.

Yuna blinked.

Then quietly asked,

"Did the table do something bad?"

The innocence of the question cut straight through the tension.

Joon slowly looked toward her.

His breathing remained heavy.

His knuckles bled.

He immediately hid his injured hand behind his back.

Children shouldn't see violence.

Even accidental violence.

Yuna noticed anyway.

"You're bleeding."

Without waiting for permission...

She climbed down again.

Walked across the room.

Reached into the pocket of her little cardigan.

And pulled out a pink cartoon bandage.

"I always carry extras."

She smiled proudly.

"My teacher says accidents happen."

The room watched in complete silence.

The most feared mafia boss in New York...

Standing motionless...

While a four-year-old girl carefully wrapped a tiny pink bunny bandage around his bleeding knuckle.

Nobody dared interrupt.

Not even the bodyguards.

When she finished...

She patted his hand.

"There."

"Better."

Something inside Joon finally broke.

Not loudly.

Quietly.

He hadn't been cared for like this...

Since his father died.

His eyes became glassy.

He quickly looked away.

Elena saw everything.

Every wall he'd spent years building...

Was collapsing.

One tiny piece at a time.

Suddenly—

The conference room doors opened again.

Chairwoman Hana Shin entered elegantly.

She smiled before noticing the silence.

"What happened?"

Nobody answered.

Her gaze swept across the room.

Then landed on Yuna.

Standing beside Joon.

Holding his hand.

Her smile disappeared.

Completely.

For one terrifying second...

Nobody spoke.

Then Hana recognized the little girl's face.

Recognition flashed across her eyes.

Not surprise.

Recognition.

Elena caught it immediately.

Joon caught it too.

His voice became frighteningly calm.

"You've seen her before."

It wasn't a question.

Hana recovered quickly.

"I have no idea who that child is."

The elderly attorney slowly stood.

Still holding the recovered files.

"I think..."

he said quietly,

"...that statement is no longer legally defensible."

May you like

The room exploded into absolute silence.

The war had finally begun.
