EPILOGUE — SOME THINGS ARE WORTH MORE THAN VICTORY

EPILOGUE — SOME THINGS ARE WORTH MORE THAN VICTORY

A year later...

Cole's Garage looked much the same.

The paint was still faded.

The gravel driveway was still uneven.

Customers still paid with cash, homemade pies, or vegetables from their gardens.

Mason never moved to a bigger shop.

He never wanted to.

On Saturday mornings, he taught local teenagers how to rebuild engines.

Not because they all wanted to become mechanics...

But because he believed patience, craftsmanship, and integrity could be learned one bolt at a time.

Ellie often helped, proudly introducing herself as “Dad's assistant.”

Vivian visited several times each year.

Not as the CEO.

As a friend.

She would sit on an old wooden stool, drink coffee from a chipped mug, and listen to stories about her father that she'd never had the chance to hear while he was alive.

One afternoon, she looked at the brass nameplate hanging above Mason's workbench.

“My father was right about you.”

Mason smiled.

“He was right about you too.”

She looked surprised.

“How?”

“He believed that once you knew the truth...”

“…you'd choose it.”

Outside, the Blue Ridge Mountains stood quiet beneath the evening sun.

Inside the little garage, an old race engine rested on its stand.

No longer forgotten.

No longer scrap.

Just like the man who had built it.

Sometimes the greatest victories aren't won on a racetrack.

They're won when honesty outlasts ambition, when character survives betrayal, and when people remember that the true measure of success isn't what we build—

May you like

It's what we refuse to abandon.

THE END.
