EPILOGUE

EPILOGUE

Every morning, before the first customer arrives, I make one loaf by hand.

Not because I have to.

Because it reminds me who I am.

People sometimes recognize my story from old news reports.

They ask whether I hate my family.

I always tell them the same thing.

"Hate would mean they still own part of my life."

"They don't."

Prison took three years from me.

My family took my business.

My brother took my future.

But none of them took the one thing that mattered most.

The ability to begin again.

Bread teaches patience.

You cannot force dough to rise before it's ready.

People aren't so different.

Sometimes life knocks us flat.

Sometimes we're left in the dark, convinced we've been forgotten.

But with enough time...

Enough courage...

And enough truth...

May you like

We rise.

Again.
