FINAL — THE HOUSE DOESN’T LET GO

FINAL — THE HOUSE DOESN’T LET GO
Margaret’s voice echoed from the stairs above.
“Daniel! Bring her up now!”
The command wasn’t panic.
It was protocol.
Daniel didn’t move.
He just looked at me.
Waiting.
The hum in the walls grew louder.
The system was fully awake now.
And somewhere above us…
Eleanor’s door had opened.
Or been opened.
I turned toward the corridor again.
Then toward Daniel.
And made my choice.
Not the one they expected.
Not the one they prepared for.
The one they forgot was still possible.
To walk forward.
Into the system.
Not away from it.
But through it.
And for the first time…
the house didn’t feel like it was watching me.
May you like
It felt like it was trying to decide what I would become.
