Chapter 3: The Hidden Survivor 😨🕵️

That night Daniel drove alone to the abandoned warehouse site.

Rain hammered the windshield.

The property had been fenced off for years.

No one came there anymore.

At least that's what Daniel thought.

As he stepped through the rusted gate, he noticed something strange.

Fresh footprints.

Someone had been here recently.

Very recently.

His flashlight swept across broken concrete and twisted metal remains.

Then he saw a light.

A lantern glowing inside what remained of the underground maintenance tunnel.

Daniel's heart pounded.

He climbed down carefully.

At the end of the tunnel stood an old wooden table.

And on it—

A stack of newspaper clippings.

Every article written about the fire.

Every interview Daniel had ever given.

Every speech.

Every award.

Someone had been tracking his life for twenty years.

Then he noticed a tape recorder.

The machine clicked on by itself.

Static filled the darkness.

A familiar voice emerged.

Scott's voice.

Daniel staggered backward.

"No..." he whispered.

The recording continued.

"Daniel... if you're hearing this, it means my son found you."

Daniel's knees weakened.

The voice was older.

But unmistakable.

"I survived the fire."

The world seemed to tilt.

Scott was alive.

The recording crackled again.

"But if my son had to find you, then I'm already dead."

Daniel stared into the darkness.

And suddenly heard footsteps behind him.

May you like

Someone else was in the tunnel.

Watching.
